Wind discomfort study The Hague
As subcontractor of LBP Sight, Actiflow performed a wind discomfort study for the area around railway station Hollands Spoor in The Hague. The goal of the study was to analyse the way wind behaviour changes due to replacement of some of the buildings. The analysis was performed according to the Dutch NEN-norm 8100.
The analysis showed that wind comfort had improved due to the new buildings. Only one small area around one of the entrances of the tower building was problematic. Based on the simulation results, the design of the building was slightly modified, solving the wind issue. This project clearly shows the importance of involving CFD simulations in an early stage of the building design.
