Ramada Apollo Amsterdam Centre

The Ramada Apollo Amsterdam Centre is located in a renovated office building. The entrance of this building is known for nuisance and dangerous situations caused by gusts of wind. These gusts can make it difficult or even impossible to enter the building. These effects should be avoided at all times.

Actiflow was asked to perform a wind hindrance study of the wind climate around the building with focus on the building entrance. The study was performed using CFD according to the Dutch building code NEN 8100.

The simulations showed that the chance for nuisance and danger due to wind near the building entrance was too high. In corporation with involved parties, a wind screen was designed and evaluated in new CFD simulations which showed strong and sufficient improvements.
